Independent Trustees — 10X Retirement Funds
The 10X Retirement Funds are controlled by an independent Board of Trustees.
Jonathan Mort
(Independent Chairman), BA, LLB
Mr Mort is a pension fund lawyer with over 25 years experience. He headed Edward Nathan Sonnenburg’s Cape Town Employee Benefit Practice before starting his own practice in 2009.
Mr Mort has furnished opinions to retirement funds on almost all areas of the law relating to retirement funds, advised on benefit design and represented funds before the Pension Fund Adjudicator and the FSB Appeal Board. He has considerable experience as a retirement fund trustee, having sat as trustee on the board of 20 funds.
Mr Mort is a past National President of the Pension Lawyers Association, sits on the Actuarial Society professional conduct committee and acts as legal advisor to the Tutu Foundation.
Professor Caspar Greeff
(Independent Trustee), BSc (Hons), FFA
Professor Caspar Greeff has more than 40 years experience. He began his career at Old Mutual, where he performed general actuarial work on life insurance, insured pension funds and investments. His appointment as Head of the Actuarial Department was followed by executive positions involving insured pension funds and investments.
He was also a partner at Malan and Partners (consulting actuaries), involved with product development and valuations for life insurance companies, investment advice and valuations for pension funds. He subsequently started to lecture and went on to become the Head of the Actuarial Department first at the University of Witswatersrand and then at Stellenbosch University. He is currently an independent consulting actuary and an avid marathon runner.
Ms Wanjiru Kirima
(Independent Trustee), BA in Business Administration and Economics, Richmond University
Ms Kirima has extensive local and international retirement fund experience. She is the Principal Officer of the FirstRand Group, Chair of the Principal Officers Association and an advisory member of the Southern African Pension Fund Investment Forum. She was previously Global Trustee Support manager to Shell’s Global Pension Funds.
Mrs Dalene Willemse
(Independent principal officer), BA, BProc, LLB
Mrs Dalene Willemse is the 10X Fund Independent Principal Officer. She is a pension funds lawyer and oversees the retirement funds’ daily operations. She has eighteen years experience in pensions and insurance law and compliance. She is also an independent trustee for the Sanlam and NMG Umbrella Funds.
