Steven Nathan
Co-founder, Chief Executive, BCom, BAcc, CA (SA), CFA
Steven, a former Managing Director of Deutsche Bank in Johannesburg and London, spent more than 10 years in equity research and corporate finance. He was the top-rated Banks and Life Insurance analyst in South Africa for a number of years, and was also voted the best overall analyst in SA and EMEA (Emerging Europe, Middle East and Africa). During his time as Head of Research, the Deutsche Bank team was consistently rated no.1. Steven was a member of Deutsche Bank’s executive management committees for the SA Equity Business and the SA Global Banking Business. He subsequently gained international experience as head of Deutsche Bank’s Global and European banks research teams. On his return to South Africa, Steven joined the DB corporate finance team, advising Sanlam on the Absa/Barclays transaction and Old Mutual’s BEE transactions. Steven initially completed his accounting articles with Ernst & Young.
David Shochot
Co-founder, Executive director, BSc, FIA, CFA
David is an actuary with 20 years experience in life insurance and investments. In life insurance he has worked in both product development and marketing, first at Southern Life and later at an underwriting agency within the Fedsure Group. He then became a ranked equity analyst in the life insurance sector at Deutsche Bank. David has independently consulted to several major financial services companies including Sanlam, FirstRand and Liberty Life, also advising WipHold on its BEE transaction with Old Mutual.
Chris Veegh
Head of Communications, BCom, BAcc, CA (SA), CFA
Chris has over 15 years experience in equity analysis and investment. Prior to joining 10X, he worked as Director of Investment Strategy at Deutsche Securities in South Africa. He first joined Deutsche Bank in 1994 as an Industrial analyst covering Construction, Electrical & Electronics, Engineering and IT. He was regularly ranked top-three in various sectors by the Financial Mail and Reuters analyst surveys, with No 1 ratings for IT and Innovative Research. Chris worked closely with the founding shareholders for many years before joining officially in July 2009. He was formerly a senior manager at Ernst & Young.
Micha Katz
Chief Operating Officer, BA, MSc
Micha has over 15 years local and international experience in information technology. He has worked in a variety of environments including technology start-ups and multi-national companies. In his former job, as head of IT at the Western Cape Clothing Bargaining Council, Micha also managed the technology requirements of the union’s umbrella provident fund (with 75,000 members).
Derek van Wyk
Head of Administration, BCom (Hons), BTech
Derek has 15 years experience in retirement fund administration, risk management, internal audit and compliance. He joined BOE in 1996 in the internal audit division and was part of the management team that started Ten50six Funds Administrators.
Kim Harrison
Head of Finance, BCom, BAcc (Hons), CA(SA)
Kim has over 15 years experience in auditing and financial management. Prior to joining 10X, she was Truworths Limited’s Group Financial Controller and sat on the Group’s Social Accountability Committee.
