Upon joining the 10X Retirement Plan, every member receives a projected investment value at retirement and the income this investment should generate throughout their retirement. The projected investment value is unique to each member as it is based on their particular circumstances and their specific investment strategy (asset allocation, investment management style and total costs).
The 10X Retirement Plan provides a detailed breakdown of investment performance, so every member can monitor the progress of their plan and understand and reconcile any differences between their projected and actual returns. The projected investment range is updated annually.
Our philosophy is to bring members inside our business so they can see every aspect of their retirement plan.
Our annual member benefit statement provides a comprehensive review of all movements in the member's investment during the year. We show the total gross investment contributions, the gross investment return and total costs. We then provide detailed reconciliations for each item.
All of 10X Investments' research is conducted giving due consideration to the CFA [1] Asset Manager Code of Professional conduct. This standard includes the need for investment decisions and investment projections to have a reasonable and adequate basis. While this statement may seem glaringly obvious, it is not commonly applied. All too frequently we see projections that merely assume a return without substantiating how this would be achieved i.e. there are no details of the investment strategy (i.e. the asset allocation, the investment management style and the total costs) that would result in this assumed return. These assumed returns are also not back-tested with actual results achieved and costs incurred. Also it is negligent to talk of average returns without showing the variability of the returns. For example, how did the investment strategy fare in the worst 10% of results?
Investment strategies that lack a reasonable method and basis should be treated as GIGO strategies (garbage in equals garbage out).
